This programme is being offered in conjunction with PB Coaching and Leeds Metropolitan University.
Coaches and consultants are keen to find new and deeper ways to understand and work with their clients. One of the most clear and pressing training needs for many coaches is in the area of psychological skills and competence. It is both unnecessary and unrealistic to expect coaches to undertake lengthy psychological training as part of their overall development. Nevertheless many coaches are recognising a need to know more and to be more skilled in the psychological and emotional dimensions of the coaching issues brought to them. This in turn is producing a great deal of interest in what is increasingly called ‘The Psychology of Coaching'.
The postgraduate Diploma in Coaching Psychology programme provides key psychological theory from a range of traditions and approaches. It also has a strong personal development aspect as participants explore the personal relevance of the concepts discussed. There is a constant focus on the practical application of the ideas to coaching, including regular coach practice sessions with feedback from coaches experienced in the psychological aspects of coaching. By the end of the programme you:
The programme is for people who are independent/external coaches, or people who are internal coaches within organisations. It is also suitable for key personnel in organisations with a coaching background who are interested in bringing coaching into their organisation.
The course is a 16 day programme structured into six workshops. Four are geared towards the theory and practice of more psychologically-focused coaching and the other two are geared to group building and personal development.
The entry requirements of the programme are a postgraduate Certificate in coaching, or equivalent education/training and experience. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for the programme, please contact us to talk through your background and how this addresses the programme requirements.
You will have picked up that the programme has a strong psychological flavour. This suits some people more than others but we stand by it because we fundamentally believe that significant life and work issues tend to have psychological and emotional dimensions to them. We draw on a range of thinking to equip aspiring and practicing coaches to develop their understanding and skills.
The fee includes the LMU postgraduate award enrolment fee which gives delegates the use of LMU student services, the external assessment process, the provision of award and the award ceremony.
