Assertiveness is an important skill. This practical course provides participants with an understanding of assertiveness and an opportunity to consider how to apply it different situations.

Before the course participants are asked to think about situations at work involving colleagues or customers where they would like to act more assertively and bring them to the course to use and apply assertive techniques.  

Impact/outcomes

  • Identify the differences between assertive, passive and aggressive behaviour;
  • Have a clear understanding of what assertiveness is about;
  • Have considered the importance of self-esteem to assertive behaviour and identified ways to increase individual self-confidence;
  • Have identified some of the techniques which will assist in becoming more assertive.
