Effective questioning and interviewing skills are imperative in order to get the best from a witness. These skills will help councillors feel confident in their approach and line of questioning and also help put the witness at ease which will result in a more thorough inquiry.

Councillors will learn the key skills of listening, questioning and probing and feel fully equipped to prepare for an interview. Practical techniques include preparing a questioning plan and agreeing a good practice code for the future. There will also be the opportunity to practice your new found interview technique and receive feedback from other councillors and witnesses in a safe environment.
