Why attend this course

Councils have been extremely effective in the past in providing resources to their constituents. They are currently undergoing a change in role from a direct deliverer to an enable". This course will assist you to develop - and to be seen to develop - this role at this time.

It will also provide councils with a profile which is more than simply "cutting services" as well as offering businesses and individuals some specific strategies which can exemplify the council's response to the Big Society.

  • Information about how to supplement grants with contracts, investment bonds and contracts
  • How to deal with approach from constituents for money (in the current situation)
  • How to match the different needs of different wards with different funding streams

  • Questions - what potential investors will ask you and your constituents
  • Your ward - a look at your own particular area
  • compiling an information pack about your ward
  • familiarising yourself with information about your ward
  • Match-making - matching your ward with the right source of funding

This course will be interactive and practical. It will also allow participants to explore strategic responses to the new environment.

Who should attend: Councillors, officers, managers, resource procurement staff, economic development/regeneration teams.
