Being an Effective Community Councillor

  • Category: Councillor Development and Governance
  • Date: No current presentations
  • Times: 9.00 - 4.30

The ‘well-being' power of local authorities, the drive to engage others in partnerships and the desire to extend governance and community leadership all point in one direction - changing the focus of councillor activity from ‘inward looking' to ‘outward looking', to engaging and involving the hugely varied communities we all represent.

All councillors already engage with their communities in a huge variety of ways and most are very good at it - but there is always room to build on best practice, to share ideas about what works best and perhaps just as importantly what works quickly both for you and the communities.

This one-day session will be aimed at learning from best practice to help all participants:

  • Conduct an effective community audit
  • Work more effectively with their communities

This will be based on practical experience rather than theories of what might work in some ideal world.

Who should attend: All councillors
