Canvassing Skills

Do you need help with your canvassing skills? If so this course will help you to think about the reasons for, and desired outcomes, of canvassing.

This half day event is to enable councillors to learn about some research which has been done into the best methods of engaging voters and to think about some of your motivations and those of the doors you knock on.  You will compare notes and ideas about your best and worst canvassing moments and try out some scenarios and practice for better canvassing.

Welcome and introductions

Ice breaker               

Presentation and discussion:                                                        

• Why do we do all this, and what does it achieve?
• An exploration of candidates experience, the research, and some discussion of the styles and reputational issues which affect us all                                                                          

Scenarios for practice:

• Preparation, role-play, feedback and discussion  

Review, Reflection and Action Planning
