All the major political parties are advocating some form of ‘community empowerment'. The Duty to Involve places responsibilities on to authorities to promote democratic participation. If local politicians "have always been doing this", what is all the fuss about? If local politicians, "have always been doing this", then finding a useful and effective way forward will not be a problem. However......if you need an opportunity to think through practical solutions to the issues emerging from community engagement, for you, your community and your local authority, then this course may be what you are looking for.
The tutor has experience of working with a wide range of community groups and multi-agency teams and he is currently working in communities, with authorities and at a regional level delivering the Engagement and Duty to Involve agendas.
