Statistically, young people in the care of the local authority do less well educationally and consequently less well as young adults often getting into trouble with the police when compared with other young people. Most Councillors  have experiences as a parent, a grandparent, relative or guardian to young people and this course about how some of that experience may be drawn upon in the corporate parenting role.

On this course you will:

  • Gain an understanding of what Corporate Parenting means
  • Gain an understanding of what councillors can very usefully ask in their Corporate Parent role
  • Develop some ideas about what actions councillors may wish to take
