Engaging with the Voluntary Sector

  • Category: Councillor Development and Governance
  • Date: No current presentations

With Total Place, Big Society and Localism, there has never been a more important time to engage with stakeholders.

It is important that authorities and councillors engage with the voluntary sector and on this course you will be introduced to the characteristics and underlying issues when working with this sector and learn the skills and knowledge to effectively engage with it.  You will be presented with some of the current thinking, key ideas and questions to be answered. Please come prepared with your experience, problems and opinions and be interested and willing to match your circumstances with other participants to find practical solutions you can apply locally.

This event will be facilitated by an expert practitioner who has worked in, and with, a wide range of communities and statutory agencies. His experience includes working for local urban and rural authorities at neighbourhood and authority level as a community activist and he is a tutor on the Community Leadership module of the IDEA Leadership Academy.

Who should attend: Councillors with limited experience of engaging with the voluntary sector.
