The workshop will explore an effective approach to progressing implementation of the Equality Standard.
The course will look at what the Equality Standard for Local Government is and how it relates to the broader central government agenda on social and community cohesion. It will look at the main legislative framework, progressing the equality standard and the councillor's role in ensuring implementation of the council's equality plan including overview and scrutiny within the authority.
Who should attend: Councillors with a portfolio on equality and diversity or similar, together with scrutiny chairs. This course Is suitable as an induction module for new councillors.
