Event details: Casework relationships can become contentious and when this happens councillors need to be able to deal with the situation calmly and professionally or explosive or emotive reactions can follow.
Further details: This course will prepare you for contentious meetings and not to submit to aggression or submission when discussing sticky problems. You will learn how to break bad news without making a situation worse and calm irate or upset people without becoming embroiled in an argument. You will also learn tips and techniques on managing your non-verbal communication.
Who should attend: Councillors. This course is also suitable as an induction module for new councillors.
