Liz McQue - Chief Executive

With the media focusing its attention on councils and, more specifically, councillors, this course will teach you what and, more importantly, what not to say!
It will equip councillors with techniques for dealing with the media, who the media are and the structure of radio interviews. You will learn what the media want from you and the types of story surrounding their ‘agenda'. You will practice how and how not to answer the questions whilst making the most of what you have to say.
This course focuses more on radio interviews or those that are not held face to face and you will consider the media perspective of others during communication and practice being an interviewee debating council topics.
We also offer more in-depth courses on TV interviews, speech writing and presenting yourself in public. For more information contact events@nwemployers.org.uk
Who should attend: Councillors. This course is also suitable as an induction module for new councillors.
