Workforce Planning Talent Management / Succession Planning Workshop

  • Category: Employment and Workforce
  • Date: No current presentations
  • Times: 9.15 - 4.15

Event details: This one day workshop is designed for HR/OD or other staff who will be required to assist managers to be able to plan for the future as part of the workforce planning process. If Councils are to deliver excellent services they need to attract, recruit, retain and develop the right people. Succession planning is about preparing your organisation for likely or inevitable changes now in order to minimise challenges later. However policies and strategies cannot focus just on developing managers and leaders but also on maximising the potential and talent of every individual within the authority. Effective Talent management Strategies can improve organisational performance when they are aligned to broader HR/OD policies and practices. Outline programme:

  • The context - the workforce planning process
  • Talent Management/Succession Planning Strategies, what are they, how can they be used
  • How to develop programmes for use back in the authority
  • Issues/barriers to introducing the concepts into the authority
  • Action planning.

Further details: By the end of the workshop participants will:

  • Have gained a better understanding of talent management processes and their use in successful Workforce Planning
  • Explored some best practice examples and case studies
  • Shared ideas and issues with other participants
  • Developed an action plan for how the learning from the day can be used to support workforce planning processes in their own authority.

Who should attend: OD/HR or other staff who are required to support the delivery of workforce development planning in their authority.
