Further details: You will learn the benefits and uses for focus groups and look at key considerations for running effective focus groups, including skills for facilitating focus groups and how to manage group dynamics.
You will discuss the advantages of using focus groups against other methods of gathering information, identify potential pitfalls of running focus groups and look at solutions to overcome these. Preparation of running focus groups will be covered including aims and objectives, the environment, numbers and who is on the focus group. You will identify and practice using key facilitation skills to effectively manage the group depending on group dynamics and how to deal with conflict through the use of case studies. Actions of what the facilitator still needs to do after running the focus group will be identified.
