Coaching - Team Coaching Workshop

Being a team coach

Coaching teams requires all the skills of coaching in the 1-to-1 environment and the confidence to apply them collectively to a disparate group of people, at the same time recognising and building on the individual personalities and characteristics of the team members.

This workshop is aimed at:

(a) those who are planning to move into team coaching and want to learn some basic skills and techniques

(b) those who have some team coaching experience and want to develop their skills and techniques and both share and evaluate their learning and experience

It will focus on:

1. Skills of a team coach - what makes team coaching different from 1-to-1 coaching and the basic skills needed to engage, challenge and motivate teams, with an emphasis on solution focus and appreciate inquiry.

2. Sharing - sharing experience of team coaching, what has worked well and what needs further support in your practice.

3. Adapting - creating the right atmosphere for any particular team which will vary according to the team;  adding tools and techniques to create the best environment for the coaching, putting team members at ease with each other and the coaching process, generating openness and encouraging commitment, and both encouraging and building on feedback.

4. Energising - overcoming objections and obstacles by energising and inspiring teams to take action to change their own behaviour and influence others around them.

5. Leading - working with the team leader to encourage most effective and appropriate leadership for the team and encouraging individuals to realise their own leadership potential.

6. Sustaining - dealing with change, especially within the team, establishing good practice and maintaining momentum beyond the coaching programme.
