Governance and Committees

We pride ourselves on being a membership organisation, owned by the local authorities and joint boards in the North West, working for the authorities of the North West. Our members are able to connect with 41 local authorities and 6 joint boards throughout the North West.

North West Local Authorities' Employers' Organisation is the formal governance body and is made up of councillors appointed by the local authorities and joint boards in the North West of England. The councillors are supported by a secretariat based in Manchester with a chief executive and officers.

Our prime purpose is to provide a network of support, advice and consultancy services about all kinds of people matters, from human resources policy and practice, through to leadership and management development and to organisational design and performance.

The full employers' organisation meets three or four times per year. Many of the organisation's activities involving councillors are carried out through the following committees:
