In one sense mediation is no big deal. People have been mediating for as long as people have been fighting and most of us pick up mediation skills form our everyday experiences. In another sense mediation has only become commonplace outside of labour and international disputes. In the UK using mediation for organisational, community, public or personal disputes is still a fledgling concept. This course presents mediation as a structured process which is designed for resolving those conflicts which arise for Councillors in the community, the Council and between other parties for which they have responsibility.
