Liz McQue - Chief Executive

Councillors and officers from local authorities and partner agencies who have an interest in partnerships and influencing skills.
This session will be devoted to the 'Sawcastle Simulation', a well tested and enjoyable simulation (it has been run over 30 times and no-one has yet not enjoyed it) where participants take on the roles of members of a local partnership board (in the imaginary City of Sawcastle) to decide how to respond to a possible government grant bidding proposal.
All roles (such as Chief Executive of the local authority, Leader, Chair of a Residents Group, University vice-chancellor, Youth Champion etc) have a briefing document and the whole event will be facilitated by Ian Bottrill who commissioned the simulation initially and has led it many times. There will be ample opportunity to review the learning after the simulation finishes.
Outcomes from the workshop
The whole three hour session will be taken up by the simulation including introduction and de-briefing. The simulation will be introduced first, following which colleagues will have time to review their roles. After the simulation itself there will be time set aside for a de-brief both ‘in role' and ‘out of role'.
