The module will support local authorities in the development of strategies and resources to engage their employees in numeracy skills development opportunities in order to improve the numeracy skills of the workforce. It will explore the design and development of contextualised numeracy programmes as both an effective engagement model and as a route to a numeracy qualification course.
Objectives
By the end of the session participants will have:
1. Explored numeracy-specific barriers to engagement in the workplace
2. Evaluated effective approaches to numeracy engagement
3. Found existing relevant sources of numeracy engagement material and how these can be adapted to maximise relevance and engagement potential
4. Worked in partnership with their education provider to identify a range of engagement approaches.
