 North West Mentoring Scheme

Working across sectors is a crucial skill for managers, now and even more so in the future. To support this we are delighted to be able to offer funded places for local authority employees on to the National Health Service (NHS) mentoring programme.

Supported by the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership (NWIEP), we have established a cross-sector partnership which will support the development of managers and leaders in local government through mentoring. 

With the shared learning and experience of colleagues in the NHS, this provides a valuable opportunity for individual, organisational and regional growth. 

Mentoring can be a powerful development process for both the mentor and mentee. It is hoped that this partnership will complement existing initiatives already available within authorities.

In a recent evaluation commissioned by the scheme, mentees and mentors reported an enhancement of their personal and professional development, for example, applying for a job they may have previously not considered, skills development to address issues outside of work, improvement of various working relationships, diffusion of tension in the work environment and the application of different approaches to problem solving.

The scheme are pleased to announce the launch of Mentor Refresher Sessions, so if you did your training a while ago and feel that you would benefit from a refresher session, please feel free to register via the calendar on the North West Mentoring Scheme website.
