Coaching is increasingly seen as an important means for developing performance in organisations, including the use of external coaches for senior personnel and the creation of an internal coaching capability to coach across the organisation. There is also a keen and growing interest in coaching cultures to fundamentally transform organisations. An aspect of coaching cultures is the development of the manager as coach, to ensure that coaching becomes embedded in the everyday life of the organisation. However, as has been recognised in a CIPD report, there are significant difficulties inherent in a manager adopting the role of coach with their direct reports (trust, confidentiality, etc.).
This programme offers an alternative approach to bringing a coaching ethos into the organisation. The focus is on the development of a coaching mindset and skills to enable delegates to engage in coaching conversations in the various aspects of their role, including 1:1 meetings, appraisals and team meetings.
The programme consists of three workshops totalling five days. Intervals between workshops allow delegates to ‘learn from experience', applying the coaching approach in their organisation.
The workshops cover key aspects of coaching conversations, mindset and skills:
