Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) in the North West have taken up the challenge to drive forward economic growth in their areas. All five are now established and they are defining their roles and responding to the Government's initiatives on Enterprise Zones and Regional Growth Fund etc.
Local Government’s track record in supporting local economic activity is vast, particularly here in the North West. However, their capacity to deliver economic change at the local level has been diminished recently.
The current poor economic prospects demand more than ever that organisations work in partnership. A great deal is resting on the success of Local Enterprise Partnerships.
The workshop will explore progress to date and how Local Government can assist with achieving success and how the resulting benefits can be realised.
The workshop is being presented on behalf of The Local Economy Network – a network for Leaders, Portfolio Holders, Frontline Councillors, Senior Managers and Practitioners in the North West interested in promoting and developing their local economies.
The network is organised by North West Employers and is being heavily subsidised through NWIEP, therefore, there is only a small charge of £30 per person + VAT. Refreshments and a light lunch will be provided.
