NWIEP Social Enterprise Conference

NWIEPA variety of policy agendas are placing significant emphasis upon the creation of sustainable community led social enterprises as a means to solve current economic, unemployment and service provision issues.

On Monday, 28 February 2011 a workshop was held to provide the opportunity for participants to give consideration to how social enterprises can be created and supported.  Below are the objectives of the event.

  • To encourage local authorities to support the development of the Social Enterprise Sector
  • To provide information on developments in the North West
  • To learn from the practical experience of others
  • To inform the development of a Social Enterprise Action Plan

The workshop proved to be of high value to the attendees.  In line with our practice, we are committed to sharing and learning, we are making available the documents that were produced to support the workshop.

Please see related documents for:

  • The Speakers Presentations
  • Photographs
  • A Video Clip
  • A Report on the Workshop and an Action Plan for future consideration
  • A Mapping Report on the support available to Social Enterprises
  • A Summary of a Survey of Local Authorities Practitioners

We hope the material proves to be useful to you and please share it with others.  North West Employers wish to collaborate with others to support the development of Social Enterprises and look forward to facilitating future actions.

We would like to place on record our thanks to the North West Improvement and Efficiency Partnership for their invitation to organise the event and in providing the funding to cover the costs.
