Effective partnerships between trade unions and councils in conjunction with well-trained learning champions are essential to improving skills in the workplace

The North West Skills Award was presented by  Rene Barrett, Interim Director of Learning and Improvement for North West Employers, and Senior unionlean Support Officer, Laura Robertson-Collins.  Before handing out the awards, Rene was keen to stress a number of points relating to improvement around skills.  In particular, she highlighted the importance of partnerships between trade unions and councils, as well as the need for well-trained learning champions.  Nine authorities in total received an Award:

  • Copeland Borough Council
  • Liverpool City Council
  • Oldham Council
  • Pendle Borough Council
  • Preston City Council
  • Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council
