The Member Development Charter Award

It is more important than ever to give councillors confidence to do their job. This enables them to inspire the workforce and ultimately deliver better services for the public

The presentation of the Member Development Charter Awards was introduced by North West Employers' Chair, Councillor Alan Dean, who expressed his pleasure at being involved in the assessment process and paid testament to the level of enthusiasm and commitment he witnessed here, particularly from elected members. Awards on the day went to:

• Cheshire Fire Authority (Level 1 award)
• Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Authority (Level 2 award)
• Rossendale Borough Council (Level 2 award)
• St Helens Council (Level 2 award)

In addition, Rossendale also received the MJ prize which recognises innovation and creativity with respect to councillor development.
