North West Strategic Scrutiny

Formerly the Chairs of Overview & Scrutiny' Network, this councillor led network is for scrutiny chairs, vice chairs and experienced scrutineers. It is highly topical and provides members of scrutiny with information on current developments affecting scrutiny as guided by national and regional developments and a councillor led steering group.

What it does:

• Is a strategic, forward looking network which considers future implications affecting scrutiny
• Considers national issues in a local context
• Debates key legislation
• Considers identified regional scrutiny issues
• Enables the sharing of best practice from across the region and beyond.
• Encourages partnership working
• Helps councillors address scrutiny issues within their own authorities.
• Helps inform overview and scrutiny activity and policy development in authorities
• Is a development opportunity for individual members
• Is an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues from across the region
