Liz McQue - Chief Executive

Childrens' Services

Role
The key role and focus for the network is to support improvement in strategic children's workforce development and planning. In line with the 'one children's workforce' tool, the network provides support to lead officers in producing effective action plans and strategies. The role of the network also includes:

  • Determining strategic regional priorities and support packages via Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) and other regional partners
  • A forum to share best practice from individual local areas
  • Gathering a common view on children's workforce issues and, where appropriate, developing a collective response to consultations and funding opportunities
  • Acting as a regional link to other groups/networks, e.g. adult social care workforce, children & young people lead member, human resources, voluntary & community sector

Outcomes/Targets

  • A continued sharing of good practice, host updates and updates from regional collaborations, i.e. Learn Together Partnership and North West Collaboration for Children
  • Local areas will feel supported to trial, then embed, the ‘one children's workforce' self-assessment framework at a local level. Local level experience will be shared with group members to influence support packages from regional partners
  • The group can construe its own version of a regional picture (based on self-evaluation, not rag rating) to convey to regional partners
  • Members will continue to receive timely and robust information via presentations at networks, e-bulletins and newsletters
  • The network will see improved links/communication with other strategic players, e.g. voluntary & community sector, training & development agency for schools, national college for leadership of schools & children's services, health, etc This will ensure consistent membership
  • There will be themed meetings when needed
