Regional Conciliation and Disputes

The Joint Regional Council provides a two-tier conciliation service to local authorities and trade union branches. This is used when local dispute procedures seem to be exhausted and a resolution has not been secured.

In the first instance the Joint Secretaries to the Joint Regional Council will attempt informal conciliation to help the parties to reach agreement. North West Employers acts as the employer's Joint Secretary.

If that approach proves unsuccessful, the matter can be referred to a formal hearing by the Regional Disputes Committee.
