Equality and Diversity Award

In October 2006, North West Employers launched an award scheme to highlight and promote awareness and achievement within authorities in relation to equality and diversity issues. This regional scheme celebrates and encourages creativity and innovation in promoting equality of opportunity for all.

The Award is made to the Local Authority/Joint Board who is a member of North West Employers within the region which submits examples of good practice of an activity or project which:

  • Promotes equality of opportunities in terms of the protected characteristics identified as part of the Equality Act including disability, gender, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, age and sexual orientation
  • The activity or project should not be prior to 2009 and to be fully implemented by March 2011
  • Can demonstrate that fundamental changes have taken place which have advanced existing practices
  • Promotes the sharing of good practice and creativity within the public sector; can demonstrate impact on the workforce or community

Each year submissions will be subject to a pre-screening by equality associates to determine if the criteria has been met, with a final list then being presented to the Equality judging panel.

Unless we hear to the contrary, we will publicise all the excellent work that is being carried out within the region by sharing submissions on our NW Connex communication platform.

Submissions are limited to two submissions per member organisation.
