A new North West regional jobs portal
All public sector organisations in the region are invited to join a new regional jobs portal. Partners can benefit from the portal at two levels; a co-ordinating vacancy board linking to local websites, portals and national initiatives; and providing integrated electronic recruitment processing services.
The portal will provide significant savings for partners and a better service for job seekers. In these challenging times the portal can also be used to advertise and manage redeployment opportunities.
Background
North East Jobs was successfully launched in March 2009, providing a one-stop-shop for local authority jobs in the North East. With new improved technology and enhanced system features, the portal is now available to other regions. Collectively, the North East portal recorded benefits of £2.7million in year one of operation. In addition, it provides an easy-to-use service for people looking for work and allows job opportunities to be better shared between authorities.
Benefits for job seekers
The portal allows job seekers to search quickly for positions, be alerted when suitable jobs become available, apply for vacancies online or join the talent pool to showcase their skills and advertise themselves to prospective employers. Job seekers can take advantage of helpful processes such as pre-populated application forms, qualifications advice and an online assessment centre.
Benefits for partners
Using the online portal will allow you to advertise vacancies to the largest possible audience by being part of a critical mass, something an individual organisation cannot achieve on it's own, and further allowing your organisation to reduce spend on costly newspaper and commercial online websites. Back office process and efficiency savings will more than outweigh your investment for partners using the eRecruitment software and there is no procurement or licensing agreements to wrestle with. This is all included in a one off fee along with fully customisable reporting and communication. Integrated CRB checking is also on the roadmap. The North West portal will be free until Dec 2011, with a very reasonable, at cost subscription operating thereafter.
