AI and the Future of HR Leadership in Local Government
Recently, we organised a webinar titled “AI and Senior HR Leadership in Local Government.”
This session brought together HR and OD colleagues from across the region to explore how Artificial Intelligence is reshaping the HR profession and the public sector workforce. Aimed at senior leaders—including Directors and Heads of HR & OD—the webinar provided a space for peer discussion, shared learning, and reflection on the evolving role of HR in an AI-enabled environment.
During the session, we explored:
- How AI is augmenting the human workforce and changing roles and ways of working
- AI as a strategic enabler for HR across workforce planning, talent management, employee experience, and people analytics
- Practical AI tools available to HR practitioners, and how to build confidence and capability
- Responsible AI in the context of Local Government Reorganisation and Transformation, including ethics, workforce impact, and HR’s role in governance
We also captured live audience insights through Mentimeter, exploring how HR leaders feel about AI, how they are currently using it, and how they see the future of skills and automation evolving.
You can now check out the recording here, access the slide deck here, and view the Mentimeter results here to learn more about the perspectives shared by HR leaders.
