Programme Content

Course Modules

Module One: Understanding Domestic Abuse

  • Explore statutory definitions and the various forms of abuse
  • Understand key terminology, underlying dynamics, and current statistics
  • Gain clarity on the legal framework surrounding domestic abuse
  • Identify and differentiate between types of abusive behaviours
  • Examine the prevalence of domestic abuse and common perpetrator profiles

Module Two: Responding and Supporting

  • Recognise the profound impact domestic abuse has on victims and their daily lives
  • Learn how abuse typically begins and who may be involved
  • Understand the ripple effects on victims, families, and communities
  • Develop skills to respond appropriately to staff concerns or disclosures
  • Discover specialist services and interventions for victims, children, and perpetrators
  • Become confident in applying your organisation’s Domestic Abuse Policy
  • Learn how to effectively signpost and safeguard using HR, managers, and internal champions
