Workplace Investigation Skills

This two-day, in-person course equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to conduct thorough, fair, and legally compliant workplace investigations.

It explores the purpose, structure, and responsibilities of the investigating officer within organisational and legal frameworks, while introducing a clear and rigorous approach to managing investigations from start to finish. Participants will develop practical skills in planning investigations, gathering and evaluating evidence, and preparing and conducting effective interviews.

The programme also focuses on producing clear, professional documentation and making balanced, objective, and defensible decisions, enabling participants to reach fair conclusions and understand potential outcomes.

Handling Discipline, Grievance, Bullying & Harassment

This course supports managers in effectively handling discipline, grievance, bullying, and harassment issues within a clear legal and organisational framework.

It builds understanding of key definitions and responsibilities, while emphasising the importance of early intervention and appropriate resolution. Participants will learn to distinguish between informal and formal approaches, apply fair and consistent procedures, and promote positive workplace behaviours.

The programme also strengthens skills in managing challenging conversations, conducting meetings and investigations, and making balanced, well-informed decisions, enabling managers to address concerns confidently, resolve issues promptly, and ensure fair and appropriate outcomes.

Performance Management

This one-day online course provides managers with a practical understanding of effective performance management and staff development.

It focuses on building confidence and capability in setting clear performance standards, establishing SMART objectives, and supporting both individual and team growth, including succession planning. Participants will enhance their skills in reviewing and discussing performance through effective communication techniques such as questioning, listening, and providing constructive feedback.

The programme also addresses how to identify and manage underperformance in a fair, consistent, and compliant way, equipping managers to handle sensitive conversations and apply appropriate processes to achieve and sustain improved performance outcomes.

Attendance Management

This course supports managers and supervisors in effectively managing employee attendance, promoting well-being, and supporting individuals through periods of absence and return to work.

It enhances understanding of the causes and impact of absence, while equipping participants with practical tools and techniques to maintain attendance in a fair, supportive, and compliant manner. Learners will develop confidence in recognising early signs of absence, understanding disability and reasonable adjustments, and fulfilling their duty of care.

The programme also builds skills in conducting sensitive and constructive attendance discussions, handling challenging situations, and implementing supportive strategies that encourage positive engagement, foster open communication, and enable a successful return to work.

Recruitment & Selection Skills

This course provides a comprehensive overview of the end-to-end recruitment and selection process, supporting managers to make fair, consistent, and legally compliant appointment decisions.

It explores best practice across all stages, from role design and candidate attraction to shortlisting, interviewing, and final selection. Participants will develop practical skills in eliminating bias and promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion, as well as designing job descriptions and person specifications aligned to organisational needs.

The programme also enhances confidence in planning and conducting effective selection activities, including competency-based interviewing, and in evaluating evidence to make balanced, objective decisions while ensuring all pre-appointment processes are carried out appropriately.

Reasonable Adjustments

This course helps managers and supervisors understand their responsibilities in supporting employees with physical or mental health conditions by effectively managing reasonable adjustments in line with legal and organisational requirements.

It builds knowledge of disability and reasonable adjustments within the Equality Act 2010, and develops practical skills to assess needs, use Occupational Health input, and determine what is reasonable. Participants will gain confidence in handling requests, implementing and reviewing adjustments over time, and balancing individual needs with organisational considerations.

The programme also highlights the importance of maintaining an inclusive workplace, promoting access to work, and understanding the implications of failing to make appropriate adjustments.
